TUVPN’s New VPN Protocol: SSH2 Tunnels deployment completed!

TUVPN News 3 Comments »

As we reported some time ago, we have been busy last weeks deploying a new VPN protocol throughout our network.

It is SSH2 Tunnels, and as explained in the previous post it will offer extreme flexibility to our users and perfectly complement all our other VPN protocols. Moreover you will not find many other VPN providers offering this kind of technology!.

Please refer to our VPN Protocols Comparison Table to get an overview of your choices and make an informed decision about which is best for you.

As usual with TUVPN, this new VPN protocol is immediately available to all our users at no extra cost.

By now we have published tutorials about how to setup and use SSH2 Tunnels for Windows 7 and Ubuntu, more will follow for other operating systems and platforms.

Please let us know any question or comment here, on our forums or via our support page.

Enjoy!

TUVPN unveils SSH2 Tunneling Support

TUVPN News, VPN Types 9 Comments »

TUVPN SSH2 Tunnel Support

After some weeks of hard work, we have the first beta server (erfurt.tuvpn.com) supporting SSH2 Tunnels ready for you to try!

In our pursuit of providing maximum choice for our users, we felt that SSH2 Tunnels would be complementary to the currently supported VPN protocols (OpenVPN, PPTP and L2TP/IPSec) due to its special characteristics.

Let's see what makes SSH2 Tunnels special:

  • Ability to protect just certain applications (encryption through the tunnel) on an individual basis while leaving others unencrypted (using your normal internet connection). This will allow you to enjoy full speed of your internet connection for applications where data encryption is not necessary.

For example: You could protect (so send through the SSH2 tunnel) just VOIP communications (e.g Skype) while using your normal internet connection for all other internet related services such as web browsing, online gaming etc.

  • Complete assurance that if the SSH2 tunnel goes down no additional traffic will reach the internet. This is something that many of our users have asked us how to do and a feature that is inherent to the way SSH2 Tunnels are built.

These two features make SSH2 Tunnels quite interesting and an answer to many user's needs. Additionally, SSH2 tunnels offer extreme encryption using AES cipher with 256bit key. This is the strongest encryption offered by TUVPN and is on par with the encryption offered with our OpenVPN solution.

We have created a tutorial for Windows 7 operating system:

Windows 7 SSH2 Tunnel (Protecting Standalone Applications)

Tutorials for other operating systems will follow.

And remember, as with all TUVPN feature enhancements, SSH2 Tunnels are available to all our account holders immediately at no additional cost!

Feel free to test SSH2 Tunnels on our erfurt.tuvpn.com VPN Server. Remember that this is still in beta phase. If you confront any issues, please let us know by way of comment here, in our forums or through support. We always really appreciate your feedback.

Enjoy!

TUVPN News: April

TUVPN News 2 Comments »

TUVPN NewsAs our customer base grows, we strive to adapt our services and our network to our user's demands.

April comes packed with additions and improvements to TUVPN.COM services to make them faster, better and more secure in our pursuit of becoming the most reliable and complete VPN service provider on the Net.

Let's go through them!

New VPN Server in Sweden

This should go live during this week. This addition will take the TUVPN VPN Server network to 15 VPN servers in 11 countries.

As usual, ALL new servers are available to ALL users without any price increase. We believe in simplicity! – no complex VPN server packaging, no limition on network enhancements, no limited bandwidth… ALL servers for ALL users with no limits. As simple as it can be!

New TUVPN.COM Website!

We know its been needed, and so its coming very soon. We have focused so much on creating a sleek and high performance VPN network that we neglected our website just a little.

But hopefully, before end of the month, you will see our new and shiny front-end! Modern, clean, structured and very easy to use! We hope you will like it and we look forward to your feedback!

New OpenVPN Cipher: AES-CBC with 256bit Key

As already announced, and after long discussion with our users and our own testing, we are going to implement AES-CBC as our OpenVPN cipher.

This change will be implemented this month. Follow this on our blog and through our twitter timeline.

Twitter Crazy Promotion And China Special Promotion Still Running!

During April we will keep running our Twitter and China promotions. Don't miss the chance to get a VPN for a ridiculous price!

On top of this, and as suggested by some users, we will run some additional Twitter promotions geared to ALL users (including valued existing customers!). So follow us and stay tunned!

Next VPN Protocol To Be Implemented

Also during this month, we plan to start discussing with our users the next VPN protocol that you would like to see implemented in our VPN network.

As you know, we currently support OpenVPN and PPTP plus High Anonymity Proxies. We would like to introduce a new VPN protocol for increased flexibility and range of options for our users.

We would like to hear what our very knowledgeable users have to say about it. Do we go for SSH2 tunnels or maybe better L2TP/IPSec ? We will create a post about this topic in the following days so we can discuss this in depth.

We think this will be enough for one month ! :D

Finally, we are currently working on an amazing project that is taking shape very quickly. It is something that NO other VPN providers are offering and will be a fantastic complement to our VPN service! (At least this is what we think! ). We hope to be able to tell you more in a few weeks. We are sure you will love it !
